East Herts Council is consulting on its new Equalities Strategy and we would like to hear your views.
The consultation will run for four weeks from Wednesday, 23 September 2026, giving residents, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders the opportunity to share their views on the proposed strategy.
The new Equalities Strategy will replace the Council’s existing strategy, which has now reached the end of its period of operation. It sets out the Council’s approach to promoting equality and ensuring that equalities considerations are embedded in the way we develop and deliver our services, projects and policies.
What’s new in the strategy?
The proposed strategy has been reviewed and updated to make it more accessible and focused. Key changes include:
Socio-economic disadvantage has been included as one of the groups that East Herts Council will consider when developing and implementing new projects and policies.
The strategy has been reduced in size, making it more concise and user-friendly.
It incorporates key recommendations from the Shared Internal Audit Service (SIAS), helping to strengthen the Council’s approach to equalities.
We welcome your views on the proposed strategy and encourage you to take part in the consultation.
